06Yard signs

Claim one of 50 yard signs

We have a limited run of 50 yard signs, first come, first served. Put one in your own front yard, not in the boulevard, to get the whole block talking.

To request one, check the yard sign box on the form above and include your street. We will confirm by email while they last.

Neighbors: for 50+ years Wausau plowed our boulevard snow to the grassy center. In 2024 that changed, and now it's packed into our driveways, where our elderly neighbors can't shovel it or see to back out. Nearly every household in both neighborhoods signed to bring the old way back. Come to a potluck Thursday, Aug 13 at 3:30 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, then we walk to the 5:00 city meeting together. Full story and how to help: PlowItBack.org

For 50+ years, Wausau plowed the boulevard snow to the middle. In 2024 the city started packing it into our driveways instead, walls of ice our elderly neighbors can't shovel. Nearly every home in two neighborhoods asked for the old way back, and the city's own record shows it actually saves money. Join us Thursday, Aug 13: potluck 3:30 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, then the 5:00 city meeting. See it all and email the committee at PlowItBack.org. Please share.

Wausau, let's plow it back to the middle. For 50+ years our boulevard snow went to the grassy center. In 2024 it started getting packed into our driveways instead, walls of ice our elderly neighbors can't shovel or see around. Nearly every home in two neighborhoods signed to bring the old way back. Write the paper

A letter to the editor of the Wausau Pilot & Review or the Wausau Daily Herald reaches the whole city. They ask for your real name and a phone number to verify, usually under about 400 words. Make it yours and send it in.

To the editor: For more than fifty years, Wausau plowed the snow on our boulevards to the grassy median in the center of the street. In 2024, without notice, Public Works changed it, and now the plow packs that snow into the ends of our driveways. On Highland Park Boulevard and the Southeast Side, the piles harden into ice our older neighbors cannot shovel and block the view when backing out. Nearly every affected household has asked the city to go back to what worked: 91 signed on the Southeast Side, and every home on Highland Park Boulevard. The city's own record shows plowing to the center actually saves money, because the city must clear the median sidewalk after every snowfall anyway, and its policy contains no rule requiring the current method. The Infrastructure and Facilities Committee takes this up Thursday, August 13 at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall. I urge them to restore center-boulevard plowing. [Your name] [Your neighborhood], Wausau
